Hello all, I wanted to take a moment to provide an update on Wendy's recovery.
As many of you know, Wendy went in today to have the Lap RNY. I heard from her sister today and learned that she made it through surgery and is on her way to the losing side. In fact, she got a head start! Turns out that she had lost 8 pounds prior to surgery (she was on a 48 hour strict liquid diet prior to surgery...poor thing, she handled it so well).
There was one complication during surgery. Apparently, one of the staples misfired and hit her diaphram (let's all thank God it did not hit any other major organ!). However, the injury to the diaphram was minor and was repaired during the surgery.
Wendy is in good spirits - although her throat is scratchy and sore.

Let me tell ya - Wendy has a great support system in her sister, Kelly. Kelly has been so amazing about calling and giving me updates - and she is just the sweetest! I learned that Wendy is going for her leak test today. I hope all goes well.

I just spoke to Wendy. She is in good spirits (and is on great drugs :-) She passed her leak test and is now able to drink water. She says that she was amazed at how little water it took before she felt full. Wendy is just darling. She told me that she felt I was a God-send to her, as she was needing support from someone who "understands" before her surgery. But what she doesn't know is that I feel that she was a God-send, too. She is such a sweetheart, and even through her pain in the hospital, she still finds time to think about me and my upcoming surgery. I am grateful for the wonderful new friend I have found in Wendy!
I'll update more soon. In the meantime, keep the prayers and positive thoughts coming. They work! and they're welcome!
Big hugs to Wendy and to all of those who are providing their loving words of support.
