Daily Cost of Private Room is $225 at Westchester Med Center

I just completed my pre-admission tsts at Westchester Medical Center for surgery 1/10/2002. I asked for a private room - they told me it was $225 per night EXTRA - and they only had one in the entire hospital! I thought private rooms were common and only about $40 per night extra? Am I asking for the wrong thing? Anyone else have this experience?
