Lap band surgery

Hi Everyone: I just saw a tv program about Ann Wilson of Heart and the lap band surgery. Is this surgery for those who have less than 100 pounds to lose? If so, it would be wonderful for those of less than 40 BMI, who cannot lose their excess weight. Also, I have heard that most insurances will not pay for this. Is that true? I have already had lap rny, but friends of mine seem to have difficulty getting insurance approval with this procedure. Thank you. Love Grace
