Does having a LAP RNY automatically mean you are transected?

I am ashamed to admit I never found out this info. I called and asked the nurse, and she said medical-wise it was a given and had to be transected in a LAP operation. Yet she mentioned 3 rows of staples also. I also remember reading on the net somewhere that if it was LAP it meant that it was transected. So now I am confused. If anyone had/has Dr. Courcoulas or knows, please let me know. I will be getting my operative notes on 2/2/04, so I should find out by then. Thanks, Kim
