Am I doing something wrong? I am losing slow.

After two weeks I was down 18 pounds so the other 19 has taken me 6 weeks. I feel the same as some. One week I lose and the next week I don't. I seem to eat fairly often. The doctor tells me every two hours and lately I seem to be hungry enough to eat every two hours. Am I eating the wrong food maybe or what? I've tried to put at least one salad a day in my menu but and I joined a fitness club but it seems that I'm losing awfully slow. It's really discouraging when I hear and see that others have lost 60-70 pounds by three months. I read that you should lose about 20% in the first three months. For me that would be about 60 pounds. There is no way I'll lose 23 pounds in a month or even be close to that. Am I doing something wrong?
