How does eating dinner in the later evening affect weight loss?

I'd like to hear some opinions on whether eating dinner within a few hours of going to bed truly slows down your weight loss like we've always been told. I go directly to the fitness center from work 3 nights a week, and I eat 1/2 Zone Bar and some fresh fruit on the way there. Dinner is about 8:30pm, and consists of 3 oz meat or equivalent protein exchange, very little starchy carbs and a fruit or vegetable. Then I'm in bed by 10:30. I recently made some changes in my eating plan and I've finally started loosing again after being stuck at 80# down for a couple months. But am I sabotaging myself by eating so close to bed-time?
