Do protein shakes count as a meal or a liquid?

I'm just a week out, but i'm allowed to be on the pureed stage. I am having a very difficult time with the protein intake. I've tried the powders, and the drinks, and they're just horrible. They make me want to throw up (which is something i definitely DO NOT want to do). I mixed the powder into a shake, and that was tolerable, but 2 sips and i was full. Are protein shakes supposed to be considered as a meal? or a liquid in between? I tried both ways, but either way i wind up too full before i'm even 1/4 of the way done with it. The shake is only about 8oz, and i've tried just sipping throught the day, but it gets me way too full. Please help! I've heard of liquid protein in vials.. has anybody tried this? is it a good thing to do? Thanks!!
