Does Birth Control cause a permanent Plateau or just slowness?

I have been on the patch for 3-4 months now and have only lost like 5 pounds in that time. I still have more to lose. I am currently at 160 and a size 10, but would like to be at least a size 8 and at 5'9. If I would get off the patch for awhile and use condoms, do you think my weightloss would kick in again???? I am 9 months post-op. Thank You!!!
