My Doctor has put me on a strick fluid intake.

I am only allowed to drink four ozs. per hour with no drinking for one hour before and one hour after each meal. Are all restrictions on water intake the same for everyone or does it vary by Doctor. I had my surgery on August 7th. Is this restriction because I am still new to the surgery and does it change as time goes by. I had open RNY and have lost 27 lbs. Thank you
