Can you wear acrylic nails when you are at the losing hair phase of recovery.

I am 5 weeks out of surgery and would like to get acrylic nails. Can I have them when I am in the hair loss, nail splitting phase of recovery? Has anyone else had acrylic nails the first year after surgery? As always, thanks.
