I have read several different things about the length of time cigna requires

I am on a medically supervised diet now. I am on a wait list to see a surgeon, they say hopefully august. I have read from this site that cigna requires 26 weeks and then I read 3 months. my doctor said I need to be on it at least 3 months. I am scared that this is not long enough by the things I have read. I called cigna and they said my pcp would know the requirements that were told to him. but my luck he talked to someone that wasn't correct. I live in virginia , so if anyone knows for sure I would very much appreciate the help. I just don't want to do this required diet for 3 months and then they don't approve me. thanks
