When will this rash go away?

I now have a rash under my belly treating it with an over the counter med which my MD recommended, I thought she might call something in. How long does it usually last? And how often do they usually come back on any of you. Should I call my md each time so it will be in my medical records for later use if I need help with approval for tummy tuck? I have had them before but just treated it myself since Im a nurse I knew what to use, but now its not on my medical record. So hopefully starting now will help if needed.
