Has anone else had the experience of being embarrassed about this surgery?

I have told only a close friend about this surgery. I have not told anyone at work or even some of my relatives. I guess it is because I am embarrassed. I am the biggest person in my family or my friends. I have told my principal that I am having surgery, but not what type. I feel deceitful. Am I alone?
