What is the longest plateau anyone has had?

I have checked the library and there are lots of entries regarding plateaus of several weeks duration, but none about plateaus lasting months. I am almost a year out and haven't lost anything significant since May. I am not whining, just hoping for some reassurance that there is a possibility I can start losing again. I have done everything possible to try to nudge the scale, but nothing is working. I started out as a lightweight, even though I have been overweight all my life, and still realistically need to lose another 40 lbs. (60 would be awesome, but unlikely). Anyone out there been where I am? (Exercise - walk 1 hour more or less 6-7 times per week, weight circuit every other day. Limit carbs - to the point I eat bread with 3 grams of carbs and 8 grams of protein per slice! Drink at least a gallon of water plus other liquids every single day, had basal metabolism done - should be able to maintain on 1600 calories, and I ususally don't go over 1200. Kept food journals and had dietician review them. Take my vitamins everyday without fail. Protein shakes 3 times per day (90 grams of protein) plus other protein sources during the day. I know I am building muscle, but I still think some of this poundage should be going away!) Anyone with similiar problem? When did you start losing again, or were you "done"?
