Has anyone struggled with BC/BS of SE Michigan for gastric bypass?

I am 35 and have made the decision to have gastric bypass surgery done. I have been overweight all my life! -- I called the Cori Center and they told me that my insurance Blue Care Network of South East Michigan would deny me 2 times then make me go in front of a review board to plead my case - has anyone else gone through this and how long did it take?
