Question:
Is there are a little version out there?

I am 11 months post op and lately I have noticed that I have not been as faithful as I used to be with my vitamins.(No lecture please :). Anyway, I think I am officially sick of chewing these bugs bunny vitamins. However, I am also afraid of swallowing vitamins because they are HUGE!!! I know that I don't want a liquid vitamin either. I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for small(M&M size or smaller)vitamins? Without trial and error purchasing, it is hard to tell how big they are. I know some of you out there will have wonderful recommendations and I thank you in advance. Shelley    — Shelley. (posted on December 12, 2001)

I also have a fear of the large vitamins and after about 6 weeks of the chewable vitamins I just couldn't take them anymore. I purchased a vitamin called once dailey at Walmart on the advise of a friend who said they were M&M size. When I got them home they were HUGE! Because I am trying to be really frugal I didn't want to throw them out. I have been splitting them into 4 peices with a pill splitter (or you can use a large knife). This way, I can make sure they are a size I am comfortable with. I have had no problems, I just take all four peices over the course of the morning and I am done... No problem. Good luck!

I am 3 1/2 weeks post-op and I decided to be daring. I can actually take a whole Tylenol caplet at a time with no problem. I also take other pills whole. The biggest one is an Iron caplet from Vitamin Shoppe. It is actually a bit too long to fit in a pill cutter, so I no longer fear taking pills. I told this to my surgeon, and he said if I can do it, more power to me, and to go for it. I don't know if this helps you, but I gotta tell you... just the thought of another rugrat vitamin makes me sick to my stomach. Tomorrow, ON TO ADULT VITAMINS!!!! Good luck!

Shelley, I was so afraid of swallowing a pill!!! I just didn't feel like I was getting all I needed from children's vitamins. Now, I am 8 months out, and I use a prenatal vitamin I got at Wal-Mart and I use a pill splitter to cut it in half. This seems to work just fine for me, best wishes hon!

Hi Shelly, I have been swallowing piills for about 3 months post op, but I also can't swallow big ones. I use Shop Rite brand Daily multi-vitamin Plus Iron, which is exactly the size of an M$M. That is our local Supermarket chain here in NY, I believe they are owned by Big V supermarkets, I don't know if you have them where you are. Even if you don't, alot of the store brand items are made by the same factories and then the stores put their own labels on them. They come in a clear plastic bottle and mine are gold/bright yellow(?) in color. They are great because they are coated and go down very easily. If you can't find them and would like me to pick some up and ship them to you, just email me and I would be happy to do so.They are around $3.75 for a botttle of 125 tablets. Good luck.

The regular (huge) vitamins will not be a problem. I have been swallowing them since 2 months post op and no problems at all. Don't worry, your pouch can handle them.

Shelley---I have the answer to your prayers (hehe)...or at least it was the answer to mine. I too had gone off my vitamins because I couldn't look at another chewable and was so afraid to swallow a huge pill. Even with a pill cutter, I would have to swallow 4 times to get down a Centrum...uggh. Then, lo and behold, I found the best vitamin ever!! I don't know if they sell them anywhere but at Kmart, but I know there is a Kmart everywhere. They are called Vitasmart. You get the multivitamin with iron. They are SMALLER than an M&M! They come in a bottle with a pink cap, and orange/yellow label. The actual bottle is a dark plastic...but you can see right through it and SEE how small they are. The best thing is, you take 1 a day just like regular adult vits. AND...if you check the amounts of daily allowance next to that for the huge Centrum, you'll see it has all the same amounts of the main vitamins. The only things it doesn't have are some of the minor vitamins, like magnesium (I think), which you'll see Centrum only has like 16% of the daily allowance anyway. So check them out....Vitasmart and Kmart! Best of luck.

Centrum liquid is great. It even has biotin in it for hair and lots of extra nutirents that regular Centrum does not have. It is more expensive, but a liquid solves all of those problems with pills. I some times alternate between the Flintstones and Cnetrum depending on what i feel like taking that day. Hope this helps!
