Question:
I don't like the 0-Carb Isopure!

I bought a big huge thing of vanilla Zero-Carb Isopure and I think it's nasty. I drank it though. I paid almost $50 for it and I am going to drink it all if it kills me, which it might. I mixed it with one scoop and 6 oz. of water. What else can I do to make it better? Any suggestions? I don't really want to do milk because of the extra calories and the sugar.    — Jennifer H. If you bought it at GNC take it back. They will refund your money.

I used to hate the taste of Isopure 0-carb with water, so a friend of mind taught me how to add some spice to my life. lol. I now have my isopure with skim milk, half bananna, crush ice, mix altogether in blender.. taste like an bananna shake. You'll get added postassium and favor. Fit cuisin on the health network, has some terrific recipes for protein shakes, he mixes his with yogurt, ice, etc. go to www.thehealthnetwork.com and you can find his recipes. If you try different things then isopure can be quite tasty. God Bless , hope this helped... RNY 3 1/2 months down 65 pounds.

I agree. It reminds me of bowel prep Yuck salty nasty! I kept my receipt and GNC graciouly allowed me to return my unopened bottles. sounds like there are some creative folks on this site who know how to make it better but I would try to return it. I am surprised how high the sodium content was. Something that I did not notice as I was focusing on carbs, fat and protein.

My husband has a LOT of vanillas form which to choose and he likes the Iso 0-carb the best. But he likes it with diet orange pop, about 6 oz. Some prefer it with some sugar free Tang. That's the vanilla. The chocolate is OK, just not my personal fave. You could try a few banana slices or a tsp of peanut butter? My husband even likes orange in his chocolate! Reminds him of that candy called an orange stick, if you remember that. I admire your dedication to use it up. It's still protein, by golly. Personally, when I make a buying error, I usually "bury" my mistakes in something I like better, still keeping to the 30g per serving rule, of course.

I personally think all protein powders suck big time and refuse to use them. I was checking out some low carb recipes from Dr. atkins and alot of his recipes called for protein powder. So I have been using what I had left in recipes . In fact I used some this past weekend in some of my christmas cookies. I noticed in dr. atkins older cookbooks they tend to call for protein powder more. the new ones call for his bake mix. So you have to buy his products. Just a suggestion to use the stuff up./

I ama pre opsoI havent tried the stuff, but GNC said they would take ANYTHING back unopened or not with the receipt. The lady at GNC is was hard to absorb so much protein at once and it would be better to divide the amount in 2 smaller amounts. ( I was cruisin'the protein counter) I didnt see any chocolate flavor but Im going to try to avoid chocolate as that is my current downfall.

I like the vanilla protein powders as they are more versatile. Try adding some frozen fruit like blueberries or raspberries, or maybe some baking flavors like maple, hazelnut, etc. I find it impossible to get my protein in without shakes, so I dress them up as best I can and go for it because I know its the only way for me.

Dont expect to mix it up and drink it without doctoring it up. Here are the proportions... pour 1/2 cup skim milk in the blender, add the 2 scoops of vanilla, 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract, 1/2 a banana and 1 1/4 cups of ice cubes... then pulse the blender until the mixture is a frosty consistency. DO NOT just turn on the blender or it gets all thick and foamy and HUGE. If cookies and cream sound better to you... mix 1/2 cup of milk with the 2 scoops the 1 1/4 cups of ice and pulse until frosty, then throw in a small glop of cool whip and 2 Murrays Sugar Free 'Oreos' and pulse until smooth and blended. If an orange julius sounds good to you... 1/2 cup orange juice, 2 scoops, 1 1/4 cups ice, 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract and pulse, add 1/4 banana if you would like. Berry Blast shake, use 1/2 cup milk, 1 cup ice, 1/4 cup of frozen berries and a 1/4 banana for smoothness, with 2 scoops protein... then pulse until frosty. I guarantee you will like these... they are like a Dairy Queen shake if you mix them with lots of ice and whip them to a frosty consistency! Dont freak about using 1/2 cup of skim milk in a shake... you will benefit from the protein more than the milk will hurt you. You need the protein to heal and to keep your muscle mass intact... it will help you burn fat!

I find that if you put 8 oz of orange juice in the blender with one or two scoops of the vanilla, it is fairly palatable. If it is still yucky, throw in a quarter of a banana. More than that and it is too banana-ey

I bought the same stuff. I tried adding a little cinnamon and it made it more tolerable. You might want to try that. Also, if you bought at GNC, there is typically a money back guarantee. Call them and see if you can get your money back or possibly exchange.

Have you tried the premixed Isopure? It is fruity and not milk based.Orange, grape, apple melon and punch flavored are my favs...It has 40 grams protein per bottle. You may also want to try mixing the powder up with Carb countdown milk. It has much much less carbs and sugar than regular milk and twice the protein.

You can change the taste of the drink by trying various flavors and spices mixed into you dirnk. I personally like pumpkin pie spice, vanilla flavor, with a half package of Equal per 8oz. of drink. To make the drink thicker try also adding ice cubes before you puree the mixture. YOu can also try apple pie spice, or cinimon, nutmeg, or whatever spice you like. Also try some liquid flavors like Almond, walnut, lemon, cherry, and so on. After you find the taste blend you like, it makes the drink go sown a lot easier. Hope this helps.
