Question:
What can I do for a low sex drive?

question. I had surgery in May of 2001 and am doing really well with my weight loss, but I have no sex drive anymore.. I have a steady boyfriend and he is very understanding, but I really love him and want to start wanting sex regularly. If anyone has any suggestions or if the same thing has happened to you please, please post how you dealt with it... Thank you so much    — [Anonymous] (posted on January 30, 2002)

i have been having the same concerns since before surgery. I have seen ob/gyn, family doc, therapist, prayed, and fretted. It is not resolved yet, but I am starting to become really intrigued by my new, bony body. I am 8 months out and down 100+ lbs, my guess is it can only get better, expecially since my partner is as intrigued as I am!

Some anti-depressants, particularly the SSRIs (Prozac, Zoloft and so on) can have a very dampening effect on your libido. If you are on anti-depressants, talk to the prescribing doctor about other options.

I think this is completely normal. As I have lost weight (96 pounds) I have noticed that my sex drive isn't level...it's either really high or really low. I think it's a side effect of rapid weight loss myself. As your weight starts to level out, so should your sex drive. If it doesn't see your gyn, but I think it's pretty normal.
