Question:
Part of my incision doesn't look right. Anyone know what it may be?

I am a few days short of four weeks and the last of my steristrips finally came off today. I had an idea that it didn't look right under there and my suspicion was confirmed today. I have a fairly fine, thin scar developing, however, about a 1/4 inch from the top is a big buldge...almost the size of a peanut M&M (pardon the choice for comparison). No pain from it, but what the heck is this hideous looking thing?? I am seeing the doc in two days and will ask, but I can't stop wondering in the meanwhile. Anyone have any idea? Will it go away? P.S. - I am still draining profusely. Can it be related to that?    — PaulaM (posted on March 11, 2002)

My rule always is: Call your doctor, no matter if you have a scheduled appointment or not, He/She can tell you if you have cause for concern and if you should be coming in earlier. You don't want lots of opinions to find out you should of called. Good Luck!

It could be a hematoma and in general if the incision is closed and it isn't giving you a problem your body will reabsorb the liquid and it will look the same as the rest of your incision.
