Thighs... there I said it... the 'T' word :-) Have you had thigh liposuction and had your insurance cover it? Please give me some insight as to what factors got you covered....    — California J. (posted on March 14, 2002)

My insurance will cover my reconstructive surgery on my thighs. I have a huge amount of hanging skin on my inner thighs and calves from having lost 200 pounds and having had lymphedema. I can document back pain from having one leg be 8 pounds heavier than the other, rashes and skin breakdown and psychological trauma that limits social functioning. We are talking about returning me to functional, not cosmetic status. Hope this helps...

I have only lost about 85 of the 120 I need to lose, but my thighs have wrinkly skin on the insides and I get pimples and boil looking things in the creases. They also rub together and keep the skin rashed and bumpy. Excrutiating to wear panty hose for more than a couple of hours. I am going to ask them to pay to have the skin removed. They can just say no, right.

I work for a DR that does liposuction, and I had it done an my lower stomach 13 months before rny and I have lost 45.6# in 7 weeks. I can really tell a difference but we have NEVER had insurance to pay. We had a lady whos Drs told her it would help her and she filed it with Medicare but they still have not reimbursed her. Most Dr will require you to pay and try for reimbursement from your insurance.
