Hello! I am also 21 and suffer from PCOS. Weight loss is known to help the symptoms of PCOS- because your hormones are stored in fatty cells, when you are overweight they don't release right (causing wierd periods, facial hair, etc...). With only a 20 pound loss, I had two normal periods. I haven't had one since, but I'm giving my body more regrouping time before I go on drugs again to fix it (like the pill). So the easy answer is yes, getting pregnant post-op should be much easier, infact some get pregnant by accident because they are fertile for the first time. Good Luck on your journey!! Any questions, feel free to email me. :)

I am 40 and was diagnosed with pcos in my 30s. I didn't actually have it when younger, I got pregnant easily both times and didn't have the symptoms. Losing weight helps with the symptoms, although pcos makes losing weight difficult. Even with the surgery I am a somewhat slow loser, though I am losing. Some people with pcos lose faster, a lot depends on where you carry fat. I carry the majority in my butt, thighs, lower belly which is notoriously hard for women to lose. I am also older than you and have been obese a long time. you should consider going and getting diagnosed. While there isn't a cure there are things that can help you along. I also highly recommend soulcysters.com as a great place to get good advice, read from others that have pcos. Good luck

I am 28 and have PCOS. I had surgery in October. My periods seem to be getting on track again (remember surgery is a major deal to your body and can effect a lot of things) Also, my OBGYN keeps telling me that the extra hormones we have are stored in fat and when we lose them, for the a while it can thtough your body and cycle off too. I did begin a new birth control that was designed for woman with PCOS it is called Yasmin. It seems to be helping my facial hair problem better then any other thing I have taken. It is hard for me to say if things are diminishing though because it does take your body a while to bounce back. Good luck.

Hi, me too. I have written all my woes, travels and milestones over at my profile. I also belong to www.soulcysters.com I get alot of answers/support from those ladies! Hubby and I are just starting ttc; so I cannot advise on that. However, my period has been normal SINCE the day after my surgery- after 1.5 years of missing one- but I really should buy a fertility monitor to see if I am indeed ovulating.... since Hub and I are kind of retarded with the actual conception tricks & potions- we are just "doing it" when we think we are supposed to and not really following any guidelines! If it happens it happens. As for PCOS, I still do suffer from too much testosterone, as I am overly-horny it seems 24-7 (if this is how guys are how do they FUNCTION???), I also still suffer the muddled-mind symptom, I still have depression (and I am not 100% sure if my prozac gets absorbed as it should- haven't researched it) and my hirsutism is only slightly better (oh wonderful, a horney, stupid, bummed out chick who tries to wax every single body part she can!) I have stalled in my weightloss- however, I joined Curves (I've gone once- so as you can see I am still suffering from lethargy!)and am trying to get with a new Endo, one who will hopefully perscribe me Metformin, which should help ALL these formentioned symptoms. While PCOS will NEVER leave no matter how skinny we get, the symptoms are easier to deal and HAVE changed for the better, not as bad as when I was 277lbs- cause then I was a JUST a FAT horny, stupid, bummed out hairy chick.............
