Question:
Having anyone torn a muscle in stomach area?

I am two months post -op and in very much pain.This pain is about 2 to 3 inches to the right of my incision. It hurts to get up , to walk, to laid down and to cough or sneeze! My doctor thinks it a torn muscle and it will take six to eight weeks to heal!!! I am terrified. Has anyone experience this? nita r    — Nita R. (posted on August 15, 2002)

I am pre op, but I once had a torn muscel in my stomach area. It hurt really bad. If that is what you are experienceing, please follow your doctor's advice and rest as much as possible. I didn't rest and ended up messing up my back muscels by trying to compensate. It does take a long time to heal, but it will heal.

Nita, I didn't tear my stomach muscels, but I did bruise them. I was lucky that was it. It hurt like heck !.. I thought I had torn them. Go figure here I am almost 2 1/2 months out and doing full situps. I'm such a dummy but that's what did it. Since then I'm no longer doing crunches or situps.. My doctor told me to lay off of the sit-ups, wear non-under wire bras, so that nothing could irritate it... Good luck, hope you're feeling better. Post op almost 3 months down 64 pounds
