Question:
HELP! 5 Months Post Op and Hemmorhoids getting worse

I am 5 months post op and my pre op hemmorhoids are just UNBEARABLY painful and HUGE! I attribute this to the fact that I seem to have chronic diarrhea-or close to it-since the day of my surgery. Can anyone clue me in to possible treatments for this? My doc has prescribed several suppositories and creams that have done absolutely nothing to help. I am starting to think butt surgery is my only hope!    — Vanessa H. (posted on October 2, 2002)

This is such a touchy subject, but I just went through this with hemmoroids two weeks ago. Because of all the pain medication I was taking after my hernia operation, it really tied me up and I ended up with a huge hemmoroid. I couldn't stand the pain. I had my husband go to the drug store and get everything I could think of to help, but to no avail. I ended up going to see a colon specialist asap! At that point, I didn't care what he needed to do, but just give me some RELIEF! They do deaden the area, but I did feel a little bit of discomfort when he removed it. I had instant relief! Of course the next couple of days I was pretty sore, but at least I could think straight again. If you'd like to email ([email protected]), feel free. Good luck and get some help right away, there's no need for you to be in pain.

UGGHH Hemmorhoids...they are horrible! I have a big problem with them too...and to combat them without having to go to have them removed yet, I make sure that I always wipe with Tucks or Preperation H pads instead of toilet Paper. If you must use Toilet Paper, use Cottenelle w/aloe. No toilet paper comes any softer. It is like $3-4 for 4 rolls...but well worth it. Also, this may sound really gross...but it works! Buy some really small plastic baggies or rubber gloves and fill the fingers of the gloves or the baggie up with chipped ice. Then put in on the hemmorhoid that hurts. This provides instant relief because it numbs the area and it also helps to shrink them back down. It is a miracle! I wish you good luck, I know how horrible this can be. I have actually taken days off work sick just becuase the pain from a hemmorhoid was so terrible. I am planning on going to get them removed. It is embarrassing yes...but I am tired of the pain too.
