Question:
Weight loss in 3rd month

Hi everyone: Has this ever happened to anyone else before? In my first month after WLS I lost 23 pounds. Not as much as many, but I was happy. During month 2, I was so depressed. No matter what I did, how I ate or how much I exercised, my weight would not budge. I did manage to lose 10 pounds in month 2, with a 2 week plateau in between. Month 3 began on October 21st, and already I have lost 6 pounds. I really thought I would lose progressively less as each month passed. Has anyone lost more weight in months 3, 4, 5 and 6, than in months 1 and 2. Whatever is happening I am thrilled. I just wondered if anyone else has had this experience. Love ya. You have probably heard this before, you are a lightweight. The weight loss you have experienced so far is very close to what I lost the first 3 months. I think for just about everyone, the first month is the most weight loss, and then for the next 6 months or so it varies. I have seen some who lose more in month 5 than 4 for example, but not often, and usually those with much more to lose than you.

i am a little over 3 months and have lost 80lbs., but i started at 352...so i am loosing faster...excercise is KEY to success, staying healthy by choosing good foods, and drinking tons of water, if you work out, you will break the plateau, i hit one about a month ago, but it came back...

I am in the same boat you are. My surgery was the day before yours and I started out at 280. Half of my weight loss was in the first month, lost another 10 pounds, then a plateau that I recently came off of. I am down 48 pounds and am greatful for every inch and pound that goes. I would love to see it come off faster but patience has never been a strong point of mine! Good luck!

Grace, Just hang in there, I had 3 weeks when I didn't lose and I had just started walking in the evenings. There are times when you will lose inches but not the pounds. I was building muscles that I hadn't used in quite a long time. Don't get discouraged with the lower amount of weight loss and just think about how far you have come since surgery. JoAnna
