Question:
Anyone in WI have a surgeon who did a LAP RNY with a BMI over 60 and over 400 lbs?

I would be able to go anywhere but would prefer to stay within reasonable proximity to the fox valley - milwaukee, marshfield, green bay. Could do madison but not my first choice, but could be if I found a surgeon who has done a lot of LAP's in my situation — zoedogcbr (posted on December 1, 2002)

Dr. James Wallace does Lap on people up to 72BMI. His office is at FLH at the Wisconsin Medical College. The wait is about a year to get in to see him, but worth it.

Try Dr. Thomas Chua in Milwaukee. He's got an excellent record and is a very skilled lap surgeon. His clinic is even called Laproscopic Innovations. Good luck to you!

Oops - forgot the phone #:
414-281-9665
I went to my first info meeting (which is required) in March and got my consult date in August and now will be having surgery in 2 weeks.

Toni: Meeting in March and consult in Aug and Surgery in Dec! YIKES! Not for me. I'm going to do my darndest to have surgery no later than end of Feb and am pushing for end of January. If my psych eval can get in this week and the approval stuff sent off next week I will be pushing everyone to keep this moving. Once I make up my mind I am not patient for these kinds of delays. Fortunately the doctor who will do an open RNY and is close to me appears he can meet this timeframe as long as I can BC/BS to turn things around. BC/BS loves me so they will likely approve it just to get rid of me! Sometimes it pays to be a pest!

Hi Chris~ I should probably clarify that I could have sped things up by about a month or 2 except that I pushed it off because of school. Keep in mind though that skilled surgeons are all very busy and if you are just now starting the process, you may have to wait anyway. That's just the way it is. I was willing to wait for quality. Experience is a high priority to me. In over 25 years Dr. Chua has only lost one patient and she was considered high risk to begin with and he did the surgery reluctantly (she insisted).
