Question:
WHAT WAS YOUR LONGEST PLATEAU?

I've been on a plateau since August. I've been stuck at the same weight and can't seem to lose anymore. What is the longest plateau anyone else been on. Maybe this is it for me. I hope not...still have 30 to goal. So I was just wondering if anyone else was one a plateau for so long and then started losing again.    — Peggy D. (posted on December 18, 2002)

Peggy, Great question. I have been on a plateau since August too. I have lost and gained the same 5 pounds for months. My doctor doesn't want me to lose any more but I would love to lose at least another 20 pounds. I am 5'5" tall and weigh 186. He thinks I will lose between 20 and 25 pounds when I have my tummy tuck (late January, insurance willing). And, I have pretty bad "saddlebags" on my thighs which is probably another 20 pounds. The surgeon thinks that if I lose much more, I will be losing healthy tissue and that all the remaining weight is coming from excess skin and flab. Whatever, I still want to be out of the obese range on the BMI scale. By the way, I'm 56 years old and I keep hearing that "at my age", I don't want to lose too much. Open RNY 11/29/01 -160 pounds

Hello, my longest platue lasted for 7 months... I lost around 85 or so.. then it stopped for 7 months... Just last week did it start moving again and i lost 9 pounds.. I buckled down on what i was eating, counted calories, increased water and vits, cut the xtra carbs out completely. I pretty much eat just protein and veggies... Started to go to meetings and started reading more posts to keep my head on straight.. This worked for me.. Hope this helps.. Sharon S.

I plateaued for nearly 6 months. Finally lost another 5 pounds and now appear to have plateaued again. My surgeon seems to think this is it for me and I'm pretty disappointed as I am still 35# above my "ideal" weight and 20# above my own personal goal. I'm scheduled for a breast reduction and tummy tuck in January so I hope it will help bring me closer to goal.

I've got you all beat...1 1/2 years! LOL I'm now 3 1/2 yrs post-op, but after staying at 185 for 1 1/2 yrs. I decided to give up my oatmeal for breakfast and had a good protein shake instead (my favs are either ProBlend 55, Proscore 100 or PrV60), and dropped 20 pounds over about 4-5 months. The other major side benefit to the shake was that it killed my cravings for the pretzels, cookies, etc. that were always next to my computer.

I'm on it now-close to 2 months now and wondering when its going to give up. Trying to increase the protein and limit the holiday snacking, but may just have to not stress and get back on course after the holidays.
