Question:
I have a constant stomach ache,

Hi all. I'm almost 6 weeks post-op, LAP RNY. My gallbladder was removed over a year ago. For the past 5 days I've had a stomach ache that started out small, but has now grown to be actually painful. It's on the left side, right where my new little stomach is. It gets slightly better SOMETIMES when I eat, but not everytime I eat. Water makes it worse, but Crystal Light has seemed to make it a little better sometimes. I've also had a constant nausea that doesn't improve much. This morning the pain got so bad that I ended up taking a Percocet at 6:00 am (broken into about 10 tiny pieces) with some Crystal Light. That finally took the majority of the pain away, and the Crystal Light stayed down fine. So, about half an hour ago I took another little drink of the Crystal Light, and this time I became immediately sick and threw it back up. Now I've still got that yucky feeling and have that familiar, in-the-back-just-below-the-shoulders pain I used to get during gallbladder attacks. WHAT IS GOING ON??? ANY advice is appreciated! Thanks :).    — SuzAnne S. (posted on February 5, 2003)

CALL YOUR DR.! Now that I'm done yelling, Please call your Dr., anytime that you need to take something as strong as Percocet for pain relief, you should probably be seen. It may be something as minor as the flu or that your new pouch is just tender for some reason, but with all the variables, it's just best to at least call. Good luck!

Call your surgeon! That amount of pain is not normal. Tell your doc that the pain is intense enough to use Percoset so he/she will get the idea how bad it is.

It sounds like you may not be getting enough to eat, particularily if the pain starts to subside after eating. I had constant nausea and pain because I didn't eat enough. Increase the number of meals per day to 6 and eat at least 800 calories a day. I bet the pain will subside. However, like the other posters said, you should also contact the doctor.
