Question:
What Happens with Tattoos Post Op?

I have a medium sized tattoo on my ankle and one in the middle of my back. I was wondering if anyone else had one and had any trouble with them due to sagging skin?    — Jennifer H. (posted on March 20, 2003)

I have 2 on my ankles and nothing happened to them. The one on your back might be a different story depending how much skin you will have after and if you have plastic surgery after. If you have a TT and they pull the skin, it might make the tattoo look 'pulled'. Its really hard to say though. Just mostly a 'wait and see' type of things. Sorry.

I have one on my ankle, that one looks the same. I also have one on my lower back. I got that one when I was about the weight that I am now. I have lost a little more than half of the weight that I need to lose. It had stretched out when I gained all the weight, but it looks normal. It's just looking a little smaller.

in a lot of cases nothing will happen to the tattoos except the colors will be more vibrant and look brighter...

Jennifer- I was worried as well. I have 3, one on my breast, on my hip and foot (which I knew would be fine) But they all ended up looking ok. I have even heard that the hip is the worst place for a woman to, besides getting gaining or losing weight, b/c of a baby. But with both my weight gain and loss, mine have all stayed intact and proportioned- so I am very happy! Goodluck to you

I have 29 tattoo's and have had a lot of people ask about this too, and after being in the tattoo seen for the past 11 years. I can say in my experience that the tattoos should hold up just fine as when the tattoo is applied to your skin it is stretched. I have also lost 100 pounds in the past and my tattoos held up just fine, so yours should be fine. I m going to ask my tattoo artist his opinion, and I will post my findings. If you have any questions just email me and Ill to help. Kevin
