Your doing ok, when else would you have lost this much so fast. To increase the loss walk a couple hours a day briskly. This will increase your loss rate fast.

Sweetheart, I don't know if 6 weeks out is long enough to judge whether or not you're going to be a slow loser. Stick to the rules, eat (or drink) your protein, drink your water, exercise, you WILL lose the weight. And stop comparing yourself, silly!!!

Your doing fine. Your in for a let down if you've planned on a certain amount at a certain time. Your body does what it is supposed to and you have to trust it. Because we've failed at every diet in the past, its hard to believe we will lose, but you will! I made a chart and recorded my weekly weight, but went by my monthly weight. I found after a few months there was a pattern. The first month is the biggest loss and you can't really compare with that month. Relax and enjoy your journey!

I felt the same way Hazel. I started out at 328, 5ft 1, and lost "only 11 pnds' the first two weeks. I was so disapointed! I lost what I considered to be "slow, and not steady" like some, tho we should not compare to others as hard as it is. I had a friend who had it 3 days after me, she is 6ft tall fifteen years younger than me, and was at goal in under a year. So age and all that has a lot to do with it I think. I do not think I will ever be at my real goal, which is 150. And that is not skinny for my height.Even after my other surgery, T/T, gall bladder removal and hernia repair 3 weeks ago, I am still trying to lose the fluid from surgery. Good luck.

Keep the Faith, I learned something interesting at my last Doctor's visit. I was told that shorter people lose weight slower than tall people. I guess I'll have to figure out how to get taller!!

I guess I have the 'triple whammy" here, Hazel! I am 47, been fat most of those years and I'M 5'3"! I am almost 5 months out and down 52 lbs. It seems slow to me since I have only gone down 3.5 lbs in the past month. I have decided not to worry about today, but focus on where I will be in a year. I feel better and look better where I am now, so if this is where I am meant to be, so be it! Just keep doing what you are supposed to do!

I had my first plateau at 4 weeks and I can't tell you how many times through this process I felt like I would be the only person this surgery didn't work for! I was a slow loser and it was so discouraging to me to go to support groups and hear people tell how they'd lost 50000 pounds and weren't eating right or exercising when I was working so hard. BUT - check out the pics on my profile... I made it and so will you!

Hazel, I will tell you what I tell all the new post-ops who lament that they are not losing as fast as others...that will always be the case! There will always be someone who has lost faster than you even if you start at the same height, age and weight. Thats just a fact. Ifyou start comparing yourself to others, you'll go nuts, so DON"T DO IT. We all lose weight at our own pace, and as long as your following pouch rules and eating/drinking right then you will get there too, at your own pace. You will also experience periods of plateaus that can last from a few weeks to a month or more. If you get on the scale everyday, and I do, be prepared for that, and if you can't handle it, then do what others do and just weightyourself once a month or at the doctors. There is no reason to stress on this wonderful journey we are all on. Relax and enjoy it-its a wild trip!

Hazel, What you'll find is that your body will lose it's own way. I seem to lose the week before my period and the week of my period and then nothing for two weeks and the cycle goes on. I am 6 months out, and that has been my pattern. It has been a tough one to accept, but I have to. I also noticed that exercise hasn't helped those two weeks that I don't lose, but it will in the long run. It is frustrating, but as long as you are following doctors orders, it'll come off! Good luck to you! Christine 318/234/160
