Question:
Help me out

My doctor recently prescribe celexa along with my wellbutrin since I've been going though added on stress since the death of my father. I have lost a total of 9 pounds in two weeks, I don't have a strong appetite like before(which is good, I was eating everything in sight. Anyway, has anyone else been using these two meds together and how has it affected you. Thanks    — Rebe W. (posted on April 18, 2003)

Both my sister and myself had previously taken Wellbutrin (and neither of us take it now). A side effect of Wellbutrin is high blood pressure. My sister is normal weight (not even slightly overweight) and she ended up spending 5 days in ICU because her blood pressure went so high after taking Wellbutrin that it took that long to get her stabilized and out of risk for having a stroke, she is only 34 years old. I already had high blood pressure and the Wellbutrin only increased it slightly. Neither of us take it any longer because of this. Anyway, that is my experience with Wellbutrin. Hope it helps.

I have taken both meds together, I found a differance taking the celexa but not with the wellbutrin, after surgery I continued with the celexa but discontinued the wellbutrin. My doc had prescribed the wellbutrin prior to my surgery for depression AND to help me lose weight. But I didnt notice any differance.

I took Wellbutrin with my Celexa for awhile. It really didn't do much of anything for me. I take 40 mg of Celexa twice daily and it works great. Maybe your doc is prescribing the Celexa and then is going to wean you off of the Wellbutrin. Celexa is a different class of antidepressant, and, in my opinion a much more effect drug. Good luck, hope you feel better.

I guess I am odd man out... I was on Celexa and Wellbutrin (and quite a few others over the years!) but now am on Wellbutrin only. The only comment I have is that celexa had a rather unusual set of symptoms from withdrawal when I quit...
