Question:
How many are we supposed to get

Just wonder how many grams of fat and how many grams of Carbs.. I did my meals on Fit day today and I had 10 Carbs, 34 Fat, 74 Protien and 694 Calories.. Is this ok.. Am I getting to much Fat.. 3oz of grilled chicken it self said 10 gram of fat..    — Catherine B (posted on June 10, 2003)

It sounds as though you are doing great! When all you eat is protein (which by the carb count you obviously are!!) the fat is just part of the deal. While you are eating less than 1,000 calories the fat grams per day is not so important. I have had similar concerns but my nutritionist tells me that at 800 calories per day the make up of those calories is not very important as long as I am getting my protein. I averge about 35-40% of may calories from fat, I stay under 40 grams of carbs but aim for 30 or less and I get 75+ grams of protein per day. The fat will also keep you full longer and leave you feeling more satisfied. I actually eat low-fat nothing except jarlsberg cheese but only because I like it. I have lost 88 pounds in five months with no plateaus! You are doing great and I am sure that the scale agrees. When it doesn't is the time to examine what you are eating. Try to trust yourself!
