Question:
Does olive skin scar from surgical glue?

Hi everyone- I posted a few days ago about the surgical glue my doc will be using to close my open RNY incision. I got lots of different answers with everyone's experience being unique. I was wondering, specifically for folks with olive skin, how was your WLS scar after getting glued up? I have a light olive complection, and the 2 scars from other major surgeries (traditional stitches) are very faint and flat. Thanks for any response. Mea :o)    — Mea A. I have olive skin and have always read and noticed on myself that I do tend to scar easily. Darker complected individuals tend to have more noticable scarring than light complected ones. I think it is due to the pigmentation. I am nearly 2 months out and everyday I rub Vitamin E and Vitamin C onto my incisions to help out with the healing process. I am a Massage Therapist and know that by just a couple of minutes a day working on the incisions its breaking down scar tissue and will make the scars less noticable. Hope that helped you some! Take Care! :-)

Here is the deal, swollen discolored scar tissue that stays that way for a long time, is from a genitic condition called Keloid, I may be spelling it wrong, anyway it is indigenous to the continent of Africa, however through migration and breeding, some of us BUT WHITE folks have it too. If you are dark and are luck enough to not have such tissue from other surgeries consider yourself lucky this scar will probably be the same... Your skin type hasnt changed just your plumming... FOR those of us who have Kelloid the best option for sealing the opening is unfortunatly staples, they tend to leave a slimmer scar, or so my doc said. It has yet to be proven as right now I have a bright redish (not infected) zipper, that I am sure will only get uglier! GOOD LUCK! Colette
