Question:
Ok, I've been hovering between 189-192 pounds for a month!

What is the deal? I'm 10 1/2 months out from surgery. Am I done? I hope not. I have 30 more pounds to go! I'm working out 3 times a week, but I have been snacking more, but not to where I'm consuming enough calories to make me maintain. The only difference in the past month is that I've started on Generic Paxil. I've noticed that it seems stronger even though I'm on the same dose as the regular Paxil. Could this be contributing to me not losing anymore weight? Anyone else switch to generic Paxil and is having this same problem? I'm just so scared that this is it. Thanks for your help! I've just switched to the generic paxil and haven't noticed a change. I'm 6.5 mos out and my loss has really slowed down too.

Hi there! Another weightloss twin checking in....I had my surgery on 1/28/03, started where you are and am still noticing a change in my body. The weight is coming off more slowly, but I'm re-adjusting. Are you watching your inches? Take your measurements and don't give up. Remember we look and feel much better now, and it's not about the number on the scale, it's really about your health! Best of luck! Crystal 294/168 (original goal: 175 new goal: 160)

Hi Tammy, My surgeon told me that the last 30-40 lbs are always the hardest to loose. So up your protien intake and keep exercising. It it melt off before you know it. Good luck!

I had surgery 1/31/03 and have really noticed things slowing down for the past few months. At this point, I wouldn't say you are 'done'...it just may take a bit more work, and determination, to get those last few pounds off. What I would suggest is tracking everything you eat for a week and see just how much those 'snacks' are adding up...you might be suprised. You could also try changing your exercise routine...if your three days a week are cardio...try three days of weights instead. And don't forget the protein and water! I know it's hard to be so close, yet so far away...but, don't give up...you'll get there!

Another twin checking in! I had surgery 2-10-03, started at 313 and am now 190 (have been since October). Depending on what type of exercise you're doing, you may want to do less cardio and more weights and increase the frequency of your work outs. I take Zoloft but I haven't noticed a change in the loss. Some people say Paxil slows their weight loss, others say it doesn't. Best of luck and keep up the good work.

Tammy, we're very similar, except you're two and a half months ahead of me. We started out around the same weight, and I've been stuck around 190 for the past month, and want to lose around another 30 pounds, too. I'm not worried, though. I'm still doing mostly what I'm supposed to (again, a few extra treats, but not enough extra calories to stop the weight loss). I'm still exercising and drinking about 80 ounces of fluid a day. I know that my body will start losing again when it's ready. I never looked on this process as a race--I'll get there when I get there as long as I follow the basic rules. I'm not on Paxil, so that's not the reason for me. I think it's just a plain, old, ordinary plateau that will break in its own due time. Relax, and stick with the program, and you'll be fine, too.

How incredible funny that so many people seem to be stuck at 190!! I, too, am stuck at 189-193 and it is driving me crazy. I am only 5 mos post-op and this is my real first plateau. I am exercising, eating mostly protein and drinking all my water. I have begun to get so frustrated. I have put my scales away and I not going to weigh until next week sometime. I can't tell you how much better I feel having read all these responses from 'twin' posters. Best of luck to everybody!! Michelle 7/9/03 270/189/130
