Question:
What is going on?? Similiar to previous poster

I am hoping someone out there has a scientific answer for me. I had my surgery on April 11. On my eighth month I stopped losing. I thought maybe another plateau. I went thru the holidays and gained and lost the same 3 lbs over and over. The last week of Feb I weighted exactly the same as I did the 1st of Dec. I was getting VERY depressed. I go to Curves 3x a week and did something at least two more days, a walk video or my ski machine. I eat what I should averaging about 1200 calories per day. Protein about 100 gr and really watch my carbs. I drink at least 50 oz water per day. I did notice my clothes a little looser, but not really a whole size. Two weeks ago I had a really busy schedule. Moved my mother to a nursing home, we show dogs and had our first trip of the year. I had 3 dogs to get ready and load up our motor home after the winter. I went to Curves ONCE in two weeks, didn't eat as well while on the road and didn't get my water in. I lost 4 lbs the weekend at the show, and 4 more this week (5 days). WHAT IS GOING ON??? I am not complaining, but I feel like why have I been working so hard with no results and now without trying I have lost 8lbs in 10 days. Gail    — Gail O. (posted on March 7, 2004)

What happened was you changed your routine. Our bodies are VERY efficient, they evolved by being able to adapt to change so quickly. No change, not need for it to do anything different. Your body was just used to what you were doing to it. You threw it out of whack the last couple of weeks, so now it's scrambling trying to figure out how to compensate. I have read that by changing the amount of calories you eat every couple of days and varying the type of exercise every couple of weeks, you can keep your body off balance and may help with the weight loss.
