Question:
Has anyone had the BDDS surgery? How did it go?

Jane, Do you mean BPD/DS? If so, YEP! I did! It went great. I've lost 210 lbs, all of my co-morbidities (well, except for the bum back and the bad knees - but they're hardly an issue any longer), and life is amazingly good. Let me know if I can answer any questions, okay? Blessings, dina

It's been a fantastic 11 months for me. I can't remember ever feeling this good as an adult, and I've had a completely unexpected side-effect---my depression is GONE! No meds, and no depression!

If you mean the BPD/Ds than count me as a BIG YES!!!! I'm 3yrs and 7 mos. post op. I was very fortunate that I've had no complications. I'd do it again in a heartbeat! Make sure you know the ins and outs of your surgery and your surgeon. Do you have a follow up program. I've monitored for life. I've been very blessed!

It's been fantastic for me. I'm 2.5 years post-op, at goal, happy & healthy, and able to eat totally freely. So far, there's been no regain. In fact, I'm still slowly losing without even trying (I currently weigh 131 at 5'5"). I LOVE my Duodenal Switch. The only caution is that you really do have to take your post-op care very seriously. Having the DS means being vigilant about daily vitamins and regular post-op bloodwork for the rest of your life. It's a serious operation that offers serious results. I chose it because I wanted the best chance for long-term success from my surgery, and the malabsorption of the DS gives you that.
