Question:
Am 4 months postop & have 3 to 5 days twice a month with no weight loss. Why is this?

I am frustrated & confused! I am 4 months post op &, although I have lost 85 pounds so far (hurray!), I find that twice every month I have anywhere from 3 to 5 days where I lose absolutely nothing!!! I believe I am doing everything right - proper diet/protein intake, drink lots of water, exercise at least 6 days a week (& I am perimenopausal so monthly bloat isn't much of an issue these days!) - so why are these mini plateaus happening to me? Is this normal? Is there anyway to change this situation? I would so appreciate hearing from anyone who suffers from this "periodic plateau problem"!    — Maureen M. (posted on February 25, 2005)

Plateaus are much, much, longer periods of time without any weight loss, like months, not days. What is happening to you is just your body's way of shedding the weight. We are all different. just keep up with your regiment and perhaps stay off the scale so much. Your doing very well at this stage-try enjoying the ride instead of being frustrated...its alot more fun.

these are not plateaus. This is normal and actually probably faster than average weight loss. the solution? Stay off the scale and weigh in once a month at the most.Your weight loss is going to significantly slow down, you will go crazy if you focus on that on a daily basis. Insted focus on a good healthy eating plan and get some exercise every day. And spend some time enjoying life!

I also had frequent "mini plateaus". I would get "stuck" for several days, and then be down 3-5 pounds all at once. Try not to stress about it - you're doing great!

85lbs post op 4months? thats GREAT, my goodness. i know one thing that i have learned through this process is that everyone loses at their own rate. for example, im a little over 2 yrs post op and i have lost 120lbs total. it also depends on what the preop weight was as well. mine was 265 and now im 145. give it some time. i went through the same thing. i believe its the first 6month-9months that you will lose the most weight. how much more until youre at your goal?
