Question:
I have not lost any weight in a week and a half. Should i be worried?

I am 3 and 1/2 wks post-op. At my two wk check up, I had lost 25 lbs, but since then I havent lost any weight. Am I worrying for nothing? I walk everyday, eat between 700-900 calories, keep the fat and carbs down, and make sure to get about 50-60 grams of protein a day in? Should i do something different?    — Julie M. Plateau's are normal. 25 pounds in 3.5 weeks is excellent. Far better than I did. (50 lbs in 4 months). You body will go through many adjustments as it fights not to lose weight. I'm surprised that you can eat 7-900 calories thougth. The first couple of months I was lucky to get in 300 calories a day. Diane

Most of the calories are from the protein shakes i drink

I am surprised too that you can eat that much! I just keep down a bit of applesauce or scrambled egg at 4 weeks post op. Probably just a plateau, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

HI Julie, As long as you are doing what your doctor says, eating, exercising, etc. then don't worry about it. It has been already said, but it is true, your body will go through many plateaus, that is all part of the process. Just keep following your instructions to the tee and you will be fine. You probably have hit a plateau sooner than others have. Make sure you are drinking enough water and getting alot of protein in. Try increasing your protein a little more and see if this helps. Otherwise don't sweat it your body is fighting the weightloss and will eventually realize that it is not starving. Give it some time 25lbs in 3 1/2 weeks is real good.

Yes you should stop weighing yourself. Take a walk in the morning, no high calorie liquids, you will be fine.

Hi Julie in Springdale: You're probably not eating enough. 800 Calories is just about at starvation level. Kick your calories up to about 1100 (in protein) and I bet you will start losing again. Let me know.

Send me your scale! Get! Back! Back! Back! It'll make you crazy! You're not going to lose by the hour or by the day. Pick one day, one hour each week. That's all you get. Friday's at 8 am. Or whatever you decide. We lose a lot in the beginning then it gets slower & slower & slower. DO NOT PANIC. Drink water!

Hi--I had the same exact thing happen to me! 30 lbs. in first two weeks, then only 2 lbs. 4th week---my doc. says its normal, I'm doing great, just keep up water and walking. I'm sure you'll do fine, too! God bless--
