Does WLS help relieve carpal tunnel syndrome?

I have carpal tunnel and tendonitis in both my wrists, is there anyone who has had these things helped after having WLS?    — Dani K. (posted on January 27, 2001)

Hi, i really cannot answere your ? but i will tell you that i had carpal tunnel surgery, before my wls, and now being 2 months postop, i am having problems with my left wrist again, and i am only 2 yrs post from carpal surgery, it has just started, i get a electric shock thru my pointer finger every once and awhile, but i am sure the needed weight loss, does take some presurre off these nerves! but to cure it i highly doubt it! Good luck

I just had an EMG test for pinched nerves in my neck and it was discovered I had carpal tunnel in both wrists. I asked my nuerologist if I lost alot of weight (I am concidering WLS)would the pinched nerve in my neck improve and he said "yes, and the carpal tunnel would improve also." I hope this helps.

My carpal tunnel in both hands was excrutiating up until the surgery. I am 4wks out down 30lbs and the carpal tunnel is all but gone. I know weight has a lot to do with it.
