Question:
Why do I always feel hungry

Everyone says that they arent hungry, and that grazing is the worst. The only time I am not hungry lately is right after I eat. Two hours later, hungry again. I've been trying not to eat, but I know I'm not being successful. I'm 7 months post, and down 120lbs, but I want to lose 60 more - and I know I wont if I keep this up... People think I'm being good because I still havent had sugar, or red meat, but I sure dont feel that way.. Any suggestions?    — Amy R. (posted on July 29, 2001)

Hi I too have the same problem, i dont remember who but some one sent me an email of a drs report (expert) in rnys that said the best thing to do is trigger fullness by water loading that is to say drink as much water as fast as you can in ten seconds it streches the pouch just enough which triggers the brain that your full the effects can last 1/2 hour to 2 hrs and if it wears off too soon before next meal just do it again THIS REALLY works we are not talking about streaching pouch to bigger size here just to trigger the full sensation its biochemical or something but it does work AND you get plenty of water Please try this i hope it works for you as well as it does me good luck

I think the previous poster was talking about an article found at www.oregoncenter.com/article1.html I post that site a lot because it is chock full of good info for people anywhere from considering surgery to a year out and how to keep off the weight. I am still preop so i can't help with your question other than recommending the article. good luck...

I'm in the same boat you are in, except that I'm over two years post op. I'm having the dickens of a time losing my last 40lbs. You are past the quick loss period and now you have to fight to lose more weight. The wls helps, but it still takes work. Start keeping track of your carbs; I limit myself to 60 grams of carbs a day and I'm losing again. Slowly, 1-2lbs. a week, but I am losing. Are you exerciaing? I didn't when I lost my 100lb? But, now I am 3-4 times a week at a gym and I think that is helping my weight loss also. I have found that by cutting back on carbs, I'm not hungry between meals and I don't feel the need to snack anymore. Also, make sure you are drinking at least 64 oz of water a day. I sip on water all day and that helps keep me full. Contrary, to what you think, you are very succssful! You've lost 120lbs.! The easy part is over now; but, we can both reach our goals.
