Question:
I would like to hear from those of you who have had revision surgery.

I have a surgery date in September I really hate to go through with this if the results are just so-so. I have been to the "Yahoo group revisions", and still don't have a good idea about the results. Please respond here or e-mail me direct. Thanks    — Terry A. (posted on August 19, 2001)

I'm sure the results will depend on many things, one being what surgery you have now and what surgry you are being revised to. The best place to get these statictics is from the surgeon performing your specific procedure. If you dont like what he says, maybe you can see another surgeon with a different procedure? Here's another Yahoo group if you haven't already been to this one...http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DS_Revision. Good luck to you..

I just had my revision surgery on 8-8. I had stomach stapling done in 1997. I won't lie - this recovery time has been terrible for me. The surgeon found a big mess left behind by the last surgeon - adhesions, hernia, scar tissue, organs out of place. I am in a great deal of pain. I'm sure it will be worth it eventually. Just make sure that your surgeon has a lot of expereince in revisions.

Hi Terry, I had a revision from a stomach stapling done in 1982. I just had a revision May 1st, 2001 to an RNY. I am doing great & I feel great.. I'm losing weight slower than I did with the first surgery, but still 43lbs in 16 weeks still is not bad. I know I wouldn't have lost any if I hadn't had the revision. I think the reason for the slower weight loss is I was 20 years younger and also I'm not as over weight now as I was then. Everyone is different and every one is going to feel different, lose weight slower and heal slower/faster...Good Luck
