Question:
Can you have juices mixed with alcohol?

I posted a question a couple of days ago asking what type of alcoholic beverages could I have. One of the poster told me that I could have pineapple juice or orange juice. I always thought that I wouldnt be able to drink things like that because of the sugar. So is that not the case? On occasion can I really have pineapple juice or orange juice with some coconut rum?    — DENISE E. (posted on May 22, 2003)

Be very careful with that coconut rum, for two reasons. 1. The sugar content, like you said. You might dump. 2. Us RNYites absorb the alcohol a lot quicker than someone who has not had the surgery. It wont take much for you to get very drunk! About a month ago I had 1 glass of white zinfandel and, oh boy, it was like I drank five of them. I couldnt even stand up straight. If you are out when you try this be sure to have someone with you who can drive because you will not be able to drive after you have that drink, I guarantee! Good Luck!

Try Clamato or Tomato juice with vodka.

I'm almost 13 months post-op and I still can't drink straight juice...let alone juice with alcohol in it because I dump so easily. I can handle a couple of sips of juice or a couple of sips of wine, but if I tried to have a mixed fruity cocktail I would need to be carried away! lol Good Luck!

I would stay away from rum, it's distilled sugar cane and thats not a dumping that I would like to try
