OMG, I am so sorry you are having to go through this right now. Please know that I am thinking of you and saying a prayer for you right now. No, I haven't had to go through this stressfull situation, however, my mammograms are always abnormal.... I just have to have them very frequently and watched very closely. Will you be having a biopsy or some type of surgery? If so, please leave a follow up message to let us know how you are doing. Please focus on staying positive, be prepared to be strong and fight. We're here, just a note away. My e-mail is [email protected] if you need/want to talk. I'd be honored to hear from you. Good luck, Dawn Vickers, RN, BLC, CLC

Dear Karen, I'll bet your imagination is running wild right now. You said "looks cancerous" but not IS cancerous. Don't borrow trouble. I had two abnormal PAP Smears and then had to have a cervical biopsy before WLS. I was in the same waiting game. It could be nothing but a mass though. Hold on to that thought. Take one day at a time and walk through the steps the docs tell you to take. Live every day to the fullest no matter the outcome. Life is short. Continue to schedule WLS and prep for it. You can always cancel if need be. Look to the future with optimism and hope. If you would like to vent or need a shoulder, feel free to personal message me. I'll get back to you within hours. Laura

Thank God it was discovered so that you can focus on the treatment for this before the weight loss surgery. IF it is cancerous, there is a 95% survival rate. See an Oncologist imediately, because sometimes they recommend chemotherapy before surgery, and radiation afterwards, depending on the diagnosis.

Karen, I had breast cancer and have since had RNY. Don't be scared, it needs to be confirmed by either a biopsy or lumpectomy. If it is cancer, then you need to take care of that first and then have WLS. You can contact me anytime for support or just to vent. Good luck to you! Ana Villa, RN

I was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocitic Leukemia in October of 2005. While my cancer is still very active, it is stable. I will live with this cancer for the rest of my life (which I plan to be 30+ or more years). My oncologist was very opposed to the RNY surgery I had just a couple of weeks ago. She finally came around after having multiple conversations with multiple doctors and understanding that there are no true contraindications for the type of cancer I have and the surgery I had. My advice to you is to deal with the cancer first!!! You already have too much to deal with emotionally and physically to be thinking of wls. Before anything else, get a confirmation on the diagnosis, then get a second opinion. If it is cancer, deal with it first!!! This can wait! Heidi

4 out of 5 biopsies of breast lumps come back benign. Try not to worry! Just get it tested and go from there. It's probably nothing. If it is breast cancer, treatments have come a long way! Good luck to you. ~Anna, breast cancer survivor and soon-to-be DS'er!

Just stay positive, I am also a breast cancer survivor. 10 years ago I was told that... But, You just need to take care of your self right now.. I am not going to tell you not to worry, because you will, I do know what you are going though, It is very hard to do the waiting game, that is the worse.. Just try to stay upbeat and I know everything will turn out for the best. Keep us posted.....
