Question:
Getting past a plateau of 2yr's

I've been at or about my current weight for 2yrs.But I would like to lose some more weight. What can I do to get started again.I had RNY 4yr's ago.I had a food blockage for 12 day's.I never lost a pound. And I couldn't keep nothing down for that time not even water.I had it removed and am now able to eat.I just need some advice. They said I may not have lost weight because of the IV's ,I had to have.I couldn't believe I never lost any weight.I can't get under 200lb's.I'am happy with the 125 or so pounds I've lost. But now would like to lose more.Any advice greatly appreciated.Has anyone had this problem?    — CarolPrice (posted on June 22, 2009)

Maybe that is the weight you are supposed to be at now. Your body naturally knows how much weight to loose for your size and height. The scale really shouldn't be how you judge your weight lose. If you have extra skin that could be the cause. I did my weight lose journey kind of backwards. I had a tummy tuck back in 1997 when I only weighed 180 lbs. Then I kept gaining weight even with the tummy tuck and I got up to 230 lbs. So I am saying this because I might have loose skin if I didn't do things reversed. What you can do to find out if you are at the weight you are supposed be, start at the basics. You can try the thick liquid phase to soft foods, I would think your pouch is able to hold 8 oz of food now. But do the cottage cheese test. Eat a cup of cc until you are full. Then when you are full, check to see how much you have left. And that is how many oz of food you can eat minus what you have left. So I hope you are encouraged by this email. Having a 125 w/l is fantastic. Congrats!!!

Going back to basics like the post op diet works for me. And eat on the tiny plate. My motto: Eat like a four year old.

I agree eat like a four year old. Just a little here and there. My friends say I eat like a bird. I do just a little all day long. Make sure you are getting your protien and water in. Make your snacks protien not carbs. Watch out for drinks that hurt you like sugary coffies.
