Question:
bariatric physicians that accept medicare replacement plans
I am new to this site. I wanted Dr. A. Cribbins in Plano,Tx to perform my surgery, but he does not accept secure horizons(medicare replacement plan) or medicare and his staff suggested I come here. How do I find a physician that accepts my plan? — [Deactivated Member] (posted on January 7, 2010)

Hi,
Medicare Advantage Plans are not as widely accepted as Original Medicare.
I'm not sure which plan you have, a PFFS (Private Fee For Service) or a PPO
or HMO. My first suggestions would be to call Secure Horizons and ask them.
Their website may contain a listing of surgeons in your area that accept
this plan. I'm also not sure if they would require a 6 month assessment as
Original Medicare does. In most cases, Advantage plans offer better and
more comprehensive coverage than Medicare...start with the plan and then
work outward. Good Luck!
PS..I'm a Medicare counselor by day

I had my RNY done at UTSW in dallas. I would call around and ask the Dr's.
Dr Rivas was absolutly wonderful you can call his office to find out if
they take that plan... 214-645-2900... Dr Homero Rivas UT Southwestern
medical Center... It is on Harry Hines in dallas near Childrens medical
center, St Paul and Zale hospitals.... I can be reached at
[email protected] if you would like to discuss the options in the
Dallas/FT Worth area
