Yes, you will have a drainage tube and it is used to help prevent
infections. You will should be in the hospital for about two to three days
and I know I went home with the drainage tube and did fine. You just have
to empty it and the nurses will show you how before you go home. I did not
have any problems with the drainage tube. I hope this helped.

My drain was removed before I went home and I never had any issues with the
drain site.

I had RNY surgery and my drainage tube was removed before I left the
hospital two days post surgery. I had no problems with the drain site.
Trust me having the drainage tube is no big deal. It's a little
uncomfortable when they remove it but the minor discomfort only lasts about
2-3 seconds.

I've never heard of laser gastric bypass. I'm very curious and I'd like to
learn of it. Can you post some information or links for me? I googled it
and came up with nothing. I had laparoscopic rny and didn't have any
drainage. My surgery was Monday morning and I was released from the
hospital Wednesday morning. I would have been released Tuesday however it
was a 4 1/2 hour drive home for me.

I also never had any drains of any sort. So it's all up to the surgeon the
day of your surgery and how your surgery went. Not all people get drains.
