Question:
Whey protein powder (chocolate) makes me nauseous? Unjury Protein good?

The whey protein powder mix (chocolate) mixed in milk makes me nauseated every time I drink it. The IDS fruit flavored protein shot tastes awful. Someone mentioned "Unjury protein powder" in this forum and I googled it. Unjury protein has a website and they sell plain, unflavored powdered protein as well as flavored (strawberry, chocolate) protein. Has anyone else had nausea from the chocolate whey protein? Anyone tried the Unjury protein? How is it? Thank you!    — Gina S. (posted on February 28, 2008)

Might be temperature that's bothering you. I'm almost four months out and I can't do anything cold. What I do for my shake (I only have one a day for breakfast) is I heat Cappuccino Soy Slender Soy Milk to hot but not boiling, then separately I mix a little water with a scoop of Body Fortress Chocolate, then once that's blended I combine them and it's kind of like a latte. You have to be careful not to overheat the protein or it will lump up. GNC also makes Designer Whey in fruit flavors. I like the Orange Mango. It's very light. Good Luck!

I don't know anything about Unjury. However, there is a protein capsule on the market called "Capsul-Pro." You can get it at www.nashuanutrition.com No nausea. No bloating. Good luck!

Unjury Protein Powder is excellent. They have an unflavored variety as well as a chicken soup flavor and many others. I find their protein to be higher in protein value and a MUCH BETTER taste than what I bought at GNC or WalMart.

Hi Gina, I never could drink whey. I forced it down and often felt milding dumping or just plain icky feelings. Hated the taste too.I drank Isopure Clear bottles at 4 dollars a bottle! For two years! That was expensive...I hated them too but could stomach them the easiest. I noticed someone mentioned "You are still on protein?" I'm 4 years out and still have to supplement my daily protein with shakes even at 1300-1600 cal average diet. At four years out it is essential to get a good 110-170g of protein! and a good 100 oz of water. Anyway, I finally found that I can drink a soy/whey blend and it is actually quite easy on the palate and my belly. It's still got that almost chalky texture but it's taste is so nice. If you add spices like cinnamon, orange extract, SF syrups, you can make it taste interesting and different every day. The one I use I get at Costco by EAS. (I add a scoop to plain oatmeal to sweeten it) Just an idea...I hated unjury too...but the plain unjury was cool for adding to jello and broth for extra protein.

Hi, I am also "STILL" on protein at almost 3 years post op.... I don't know how you can't be. Anyway I just recently tried these protein shakes I found at www.bodybuilding.com called BSN dessert protein and i've tried all the flavors and they are really good. You can get a sample of all their flavors at their website www.bsnonline.net for $9.99. I also use the Anywhey protein powder which is also flavorless like the unjury and it doesn't hardly have any taste you can add it to almost anything. Goodluck. Jeannie

I only can take injusry. The sell sample packs of all flavors that are single servings and if you order a stock order to ship once a month they give you a 15% discount, if you tell them it is a month order that you want on a certan date each month. www.unjury.com - Really nice people to deal with.

HI Gina - There is also a protein drink in ISOPURE that is a liquid sold at GNC. Comes in a 20 oz bottle and comes in several flavors. I like the grape the best. It has 40 grms of protein and counts as water too. Best of Luck

If you can afford Unjury and the shipping and handling charges go 4 it. If not, there are several others you can try. GNC has Anywhey Tasteless protein powder. It's not 100% tasteless (more like 95%), but you can put it in anything and even bake with it later on. It also tastes awesome with crystal light. There is yet another one that has taste that is really good. The designer whey also found at GNC. Pomegranite is my fave flavor. There are like 2 or 3 other flavors. One last choice. (Usually the cheapest route), I found that if I take my body fortress whey powder (chocolate or vanilla) and mix it with WATER instead of milk I can tolerate it much better. I figure that since I will have to do these occasionally for the rest of my life, the taste is something I will just have to deal with if I don't have the money for the more expensive stuff. SMALL price to pay for such a great tool! Good luck and God bless!

I do get nauseaus with certain protein bars, possibly the intake is so much and so rapid that it makes us nauseaus. Not sure, but when you find out. Let me know??

Unjury's delicious, but I found it too rich when it was mixed in milk. I mix it in water and it's much better. The chocolate and chicken soup are delicious (although you can only have the soup warm, not hot); the vanilla is OK and I agree with several people who have commented that the strawberry isn't the best. But the unflavored isn't bad - doesn't leave the aftertaste some do. I also just tried Boost Glucose Control, and that's pretty good. I'm lactose intolerant, and these are the only 2 my nutritionist recommends.

Some mention the Isopure Zero Carb Vanilla -- they also make it in fruit flavors. They come in 20 ounce bottles and contain 40 grams of protein. I love them -- buy a case at least once a month. Don't by the orange -- NASTY. I purchase the Grape Frost; Alpine Punch; and Apple Melon. You can mix these with water. As my job is a sitting job -- I have to find things that are easy to eat at my desk -- so I like this drink. I highly recommend it to everyone who asks and especially for those who find they can't tolerate dairy products.

Gina, I totlly understand. They Whey made me want to throw up... I have been testing protein shakes out for 2 weeks now... the best on taste wise by far is BSN Lean Dessert Protein shake Chocolate Fudge Pudding flavored... its about 83 cents per shake and 20 grams of protein per shake...

Gina, I use Unjury and recommend it! I love the texture and the flavor (except for the strawberry sorbet, gag me!) The chicken is great, the chocolate is creamy when I add it to skim milk and ice cubes YUM!, vanilla is good this way too, or blended with frozen fruit for a smoothy. I have added all three to the mix when I make sugar free pudding, oops, three being the unflavored also. I would suggest buying the travel packs and trying it.

This is always a matter of personal taste but I am an unjury fan--mostly chocolate but also like vanilla in the summer to mix with crystal lite. I have it on auto ship. Julia

Unjury is great it dissolves completely and has high content of protein and if you use their outo ship porgram you get a discount. Also try this recipe mix 2 scoops choc protein(I sometime use van and choc) ice, milk and one spoon of penut butter, this is my fav shake and has almost 50 grams of protein. you can also make milk ice cubes as well. Good luck
