I am 5'9", before surgery (October 2003) I was 350.4, now six months later I am down 86.2 pounds. My personal goal is to get under 200. I would love to lose 200 pounds total but I don't think that will happen

I am 5'8 but started a little less at 314. I now weigh 174.5 only 4.5 to goal. I will be 11 months out in 4 days and have lost 139.5. I am a size 12 and able to fit some 10s. I do have hanging skin but not as bad as I thought. I am scheduled for a tummy tuck on 5/5/04 which I am excited about but I still would like my arms done and my boobs lifted. I hope this helps and good luck. 5/9/03 314/174.5/170

I'm between 5'6" and 5'7" (shrinking as I get older!)and I started out at 360. I'm not at my goal yet - I weigh 178 pounds and I have LOTS of hanging skin. I wear 12's and 14's depending on the cut. I had my surgery on Oct 3, 2002 so I'm at a year and a half. At this point I'm having to work really hard to lose weight. But I'm very active and I feel good - hopefully a lower body lift will get me down to my ideal size. Good luck!

I am 5'9 started out at 319. I am currently below my doctors goal, which was 180-190 and only 14lbs from my personal goal. I am just one year out. I work out at least 3-5 times a week. And I have excess skin, as I had been overweight my entire life. I am planning to have a thigh lift, total upper and lower tummy tuck and arm tuck. I was somewhat pear shaped but now it is more hourglass. I wore a size 24 at my highest, I am now in a size juniors 7-9 on the top and a misses size 10 on the bottom.

I am 5'10 or a shade under, and weighed in at 326 the day of surgery. I'm currently 12 and a half months out of open RNY, and am down to 200 pounds. My surgeon's goal weight for me is 146, but I don't ever see me getting there (not being negative, but I look normal now, so 50+ pounds would be too slender). I joined weight watchers, and the goal weight for my height is 165-170, so that is what I'm aiming for. I carried slightly more weight in the stomach/hips/butt/thighs area, but overall carried my weight well (thank you for being tall!). I have lots of leftover skin, enough that I feel more uncomfortable in a swim suit now than I did before surgery. I do not plan on plastic surgery, however, as I have no $$, and it's not causing medical problems and would not be covered by insurance. I wouldn't mind a tummy tuck, thigh lift, and some under arm skin removed, but it's not such a major deal that I'm obssessing about it. I wear a size 14 or 14w pant, depending on maker, and a L top, XL for my broad shoulders occasionally. I'd like to lose another 35 pounds and then wait a couple of years to see wear the skin settles. It can take a long time for your skin to snap back, and I do notice during plateaus that my skin seems to firm up during that time. Good luck! Open RNY 03/20/03 326-200-165

I am 5' 7" at my highest weight I was 336, day of surgery, 301. I am 2 yrs out open RNY and currently weigh 152. My doctor said he'd just like to see me under 200lbs and left it at that (without a real "goal weight". I had alot of hanging skin, I mean A LOT. I'm 2 weeks post op TT and brachioplasty (arms). I wore size 12/14 jeans because I had to literally tuck my skin in my jeans (gross, I know), but they were baggie in the butt and thigh area. Skirts, since they are cut differently, I wore an 8. I'm much to swollen to try anything on right now other than sweats, and I'm curious to see how things fit me in the next few weeks. Best of luck.

Hi, I had WLS on 9-30-03, I am 5'7, my highest weight was 335, day of surgery I was 314. Less than 6 1/2 months ago, I am down 117 lb, to 197. and feeling great. I have always been big, but carry all mine in front, lots of tummy, hoping for a future TT. I did wear a size 30, now in jeans size 16/18 and xl shirts. Docs goal is 200, my goal is 185/190, and almost there!!! But I know the real work comes with maintaining once I get there. Best of luck, HUGS Patricia

I am 5'8" and weighed 326lbs before surgery. Now 17 mos later, I have lost 136lbs. I am 11 lbs below my doctors goal but 30 lbs from my personal goal. If I don't make my personal goal then thats okay because I feel great. I, too, am a pear shape. I am having abdominoplasty, thigh lift, mastopexy and brachioplasty on May 5th and I'm hoping that will take off another 15 to 20 lbs. Am I going to worry about the last 10-15 lbs? NOT!!! Life is too short and I am 50 yrs old and don't need to get to thin as I will look sick. Right now I wear a 14 to 16 pants and 12 or med to lg tops. I should be more proportioned after surgery. Good luck to you and God Bless.

I fit your criteria. I was 359 and believed myself to be 5'8"1/2 - at a recent physical they told me I was 5'7" 3/4 but I'm still skeptical! Anyway... 1.) I didn't really set a numerical goal, figured I'd know it when I saw it. I feel like I'm pretty much there now - I'm wavering between 175 and 178 at 18 1/2 months out. I would like to get under 170 but I'd also be happy if I stayed where I am and didn't gain; no one thinks I look as much as I weigh, anyway. 2.) About 182 pounds to date - I'm still losing a bit, but VERY slowly now, maybe 1-3 lbs a month. 3.) I lost 101 lbs in the first 6 months, and I think I lost 62 lbs in the second six months. In my third six months, I've lost around 20 lbs, give or take a couple. 4) Don't really think I was a pear shape. Although I dearly want to lose the extra skin, I know mine probably isn't nearly as bad as I deserve, or as bad as lots of other people have to deal with. I won't have the money for plastic surgery for a while but I think I'm starting to come to terms with it and realize it's not as bad as I think. 5.) Mostly in 12s now. I just bought some size 10 jeans, just cuz I could get into them, LOL - but a 10 is still a tight squeeze though it's becoming closer to reality. On the other hand, in some clothes, I need a 14. Also, I have broad shoulders that necessitate me getting large shirts a lot of the time. Good luck!

Hi there, I am 5'10" and started out at 346#. I had open RNY on 08-11-03, 8 mos ago. So far I have gone from 346 to 212. I was a size 28/30 and 4x, now I am a size 16 pants and 18/20 or XL shirt. My fat rolls have really not been a problem, they have shrunk back quite a bit, and when I'm wearing button/zip pants, you really can't tell I have much of a roll at all. My worst flab is on my arms and thighs, and I'm about to join curves to work on that. My ultimate goal would be to get to 175. My personal goal is to get to 199, I want to be under 200!

Hi, I started at 358, and I am 5'8.5". I had surgery 11-9-02, and I am down to 182lbs. I am currently in a med-lg shirt, lg pants, and size 12-14. The most loose skin I have is on my upper arms and thighs. I have the loose tummy skin, but I've always been big so I expected it. I am just happy to be alive. Good luck to all. Everyday provides the chance to start over. Remember life is worth it, You are worth it.

Hi there! I'm 5'8, started at 349.7 ... I had LAP RNY on June 18, 2003, and have lost 110 (so far). I was really hoping to avoid plastic surgery, but as I go on, I think I'll at least need a tummy tuck and my upper arms done. Good luck to you!
