hey bonnie. i also had rny on 1-5. i have hit a plaeau also. it is very normal. i have actually gained 2 pounds this past week, but i know its only water weight. my doctor said that it is normal to hit a plateau after 4 or 5 weeks post-op. its our bodys way of catching up. so..dont be discouraged. i was at first, but then after talking with me doctor, i feel much better. just keep doing what your doing and im sure our weight will "fall off too". happy losing!!!!

It's normal! Most of us have these plateaus...You are doing fine...Most of us think we should be able to see the pounds melting off and it just doesn't work that way. It takes time for us to see our own loss...Others that don't see us daily see it much faster than us... If you watch a roast in the the oven bake for an hour...it seems like days...It's boring and slow! If you just go about your business and let the timer tell you when it's done, it goes by faster when you are not watching it so intensely! I think most of us start that way...We are so excited and just want it to be over! But half the fun of losing the weight is the journey and all the attention and oohs and aahs you hear from friends and family and co-workers...ENJOY it! It stops eventually and then you are left a regular, boring, thin, average and healthy person and there's no more oohs and aahs...:::Sniffles::: LOL Give yourself a year! Or more! You are doing fine!

this is happening to me as well. I had my surgery new years eve (2008) .I lost forty pounds before surgery and have lost only 23 pounds since then . I spoke with the doctor and she said that they expect you to lose five to seven pounds a month...so she said I was above average...but I too was concerned with failure when I started reading all these blogs about weight followig off ...I felt like a failure...I still feel like I a not progressing as I should...but I did stop reading the blogs because I found myself comparing myself to them and then thinking that somethig was wrong. I do water aerobic five days a week so the exercise isn't the problem.everyone is differen and progresses at different rates. Keep me posted ad I will do the same. We can lose together!

Hi Bonnie congrats your normal!! I know how crazy it seems not to be losing when you barely eat 600 - 800 calories. You will wake up weigh yourself and bam 3 -4 pounds overnight! Your body has a mind of it own sometimes, also make sure you have measured yourself, I wish I had before surgery. When your not losing pounds you are losing inches which is also exciting. You will notice your clothes fitting differently even when the scale doesnt move. Just be patient as hard as it is....you WILL do great. I was also told to up my calories and change up my eating which also helps, as your body thinks your starving it. Congrats again on your weight loss!!

I never weighed myself after surgery. I waited until I went to the doctor and so it looked like the pounds were "falling off" because I was weighed so infrequently.
