Hi, Everything I have read says if you truely can't lose then start back at the beginning diet. Liquids only and jump start your body. Then gradually add other food. I'm only 7 mos out so I can only tell you what I've read. Good luck Debbie ~live as if all your dreams came true~

My NUT told me when I was in the losing stage of my weight loss part of this journey, to eat only carbs and add only complex carbs after I lost my 75% of my weight. However, she did add that I didn't have to add any complex carbs if I wanted to lose the weight. Now I am under weight, I have to eat more meals so I do not lose anymore, she is having a fit with me. But, I only eat complex carbs, no sugar and I have at least 65 grams of protein a day. I hope this helps.

It still all boils back down to reduce the calories and increase the physical exercise. That's what will equal weight loss. Do you journal your food intake? Sometimes extra calories sneak back in without us realizing it. Maybe it's time to change up the exercise routine. But whatever you do, don't throw in the towel. This is a lifetime commitment. Stay the course, change the course, but don't revert to old habits or poor food choices. You CAN do it!

Don't forget - you may have 15 pounds of excess skin that won't be lost without surgery to remove the skin.

I think Shelly meant "only eat protein" not carbs. Here are some ideas: get with a personal trainer about your exercise routine. See your dietician, and bring food journals with you. Go to your surgeon's support group, if you're not already, and see if others have ideas that have worked for them. And don't forget that our bodies do regrow some ability to absorb food (if you had RNY) and that it will always be more difficult to lose now that you're out of your "honeymoon period." Your progress will be slower than you're used to... and you'll hit plateaus as your body tries to hold onto the weight. But if you work on the good ol' formula of putting out more calories than you take in, you're bound to lose weight eventually. Best to just work on the habits rather than eyeing the reward, as you'll need the habits for the rest of your life to maintain and not gain. We all have a lot of work ahead of us! It honestly scares me a little (I'm only 5 months out from RNY) but it is the reality of the situation.

You have to check with your doctor if you need to lose more weight, because every body works in one way. Maybe you do not need loose more.

keep ur meals small...my clinics rule is 2 ounces while losing..but to lose 20 lbs, i'd tell you to increase your calorie output and reduce intake to 1200-1500 depending on your output. I am 2 yrs out been maintaining for 14 months and I still only eat 4 ounce meals. My caloric intake is between 1300 and 1500 depending on my workout. I walk a lot. But try to increase your protein intake. eat 4 meals and one snack..all healthy in nature. Try to reduce carbs. I find that if I eat a lot of carbs today..tomorrow I am hungrier. so i avoid them as much as possible. Good luck to you and God bless! hugs, Kim
