Question:
I am 2 weeks post op today and find myself hungry at times. The people that I have
spoken to have said they dont get hungry. I know I am not the only one my dr said 1/2 of his patients do. Can someone help and give mee some ideas or advice. Thank you — SINDI W. (posted on June 30, 2003)

I was hungry during the clear liquid and pureed phases, since they leave
the pouch pretty quickly and do not trigger a full sensation in many
people. Once I was on solid food, the hunger went away. Make sure you are
getting all the liquid you need this early on, its really important.

I was hungry (very hungry) the first several weeks also. Probably the
first 1-6 weeks. Busy yourself with other things. Try to fill yourself
with water (baby sips until ....you'll know when). You're NOT alone. Many
many many people claim "...and I'm never hungry...," BUT many
many many people claim "I was hungry." Trust me ...read my
profile....it does "go away." Good luck!

And try to get yourself away from the TV set. I never realized before how
many food commercials there were. Seemed like it made the hunger cravings
so much worse.

I found that herbal tea with Splenda (especially the blackberry, apple
cranberry, and currant flavors) or bouillion cubes helped me think I was
eating something that had food in it. Hunger pains do improve--I think a
lot of this is head hunger.

Yes, I did all the time. It gets better. Try eating some more satifying
foods instead of just liquids. I found that when I ate hard boiled egg
whites and soft cheeses they tend to sustain me much longer and keeps me
from getting to the hunger part. It gets better. I am now almost 4 weeks
post op and it is a little better already. Hang in there

I am also 2 weeks post op today and I find myself battling with hunger!
It's hard to say whether it's just head hunger or actual hunger, but either
way, it's a pain!! I try to keep myself busy, drink water or have some
clear broth when I'm feeling hungry. Good luck to you!!
